Peaceful, quiet moments…that is this week’s Focus on Life challenge. Now that is indeed a challenge. In a house of 4 boys, quiet moments don’t happen very often. Well unless you count late at night when everyone is asleep. You’ll find me up then, but there are no interesting pictures to share when I’m in my night owl mode.

When I opened the dryer today, a piece of sea glass tumbled out. It must have been tucked in to pocket. It reminded me of our trip to New England a few weeks ago. Our last adventure before the start of the school year. We love exploring towns up north, especially along the coast. As you can tell by my photos (especially if you follow me on Instagram) I’m forever drawn to the ocean. It is there that I truly find my quiet moments. The boys are occupied (this is the key ingredient) on their boogie boards or searching for rocks and shells. I watch them while sitting on the sand or strolling along behind them on our walks. It is incredibly peaceful and I often think to myself that I have truly found a slice of heaven on earth.

Scenic lobster cruises?
Parsons Beach, Kennebunkport
A lab puppy hustled down from his yard and joined us on the beach for a little frolic (see him heading over in photo above). In all the commotion, I dropped my cell phone and didn’t realize it was missing til we walked to the car later. My husband eventually found it after crossing the beach in a grid pattern, partially covered in sand. He called it but couldn’t hear it because of the sound of the waves. I was lucky we ever found it; he was just about to give up!
Ah, no crowds. This is bliss.
Antiquing in Maine – lots of great shops along Rt.1. We have our favorite places to scour for treasures. Here is my #1 treasure-hunter.
Ogunquit, Maine on the Marginal Way. The boys made several rock statues too – you can’t help but do it.
And finally NYC. It’s a tradition to stop here on our New England sweep. We celebrated our son’s 9th birthday here.
