What a FANTASTIC weekend – artBLISS had the honor of hosting Richard Salley for the 3rd time. We have been very fortunate. This time the icing on the cake was that his wonderful assistant, Martina Stein, also taught a class!
It felt like a reunion – meeting old friends and new. A few ladies even traveled from South Carolina and Utah to be there. A real gathering of soul sisters. Then came the workshops: Bits and Pieces, Sawing 101, Southwestern Rings and Balance Beam bangle. I know we all learned a great deal from the metal master, Richard Salley.
I’ve enjoyed seeing the many workshop photos on Facebook. Here are a few of my favorites from the weekend!
Richard Salley demonstrating in the Bits and Pieces class.
Top L to R: Martha Irish, Dia Daniels
Bottom L to R: Judy Cain, Brianna Wyatt
Student work: finished Bits and Pieces pendants. What an array!
I love how my pendant turned out, with all of the layers. I combined pieces of etched, stamped, and crimped metal. Oh, and I learned to set a little cab too!
Friday evening was a nice refresher course with Martina Stein: Who’s Afraid of the Big, Bad Saw?
Martina is an excellent teacher, very patient, and with many life experiences to share.
Top to bottom: Tracy Statler, Michelle Timms, and Sally Russick.
A random tool line-up: what a beautiful site!
Here Richard is adding flux to a ring band in the Southwestern Rings class.
Making rings, Top to Bottom: Carol Meyers, Melissa Meman, and
Laura Twiford
Martina helping Bette Brody with her ring. Everyone received one-on-one assistance when it was needed.
Time to gather for lunch and share stories! From Left to Right: Michelle Timms, Melissa Meman, Sally Russick, Laura Twiford,
Bette Brody, Carol Meyers, and Dia Daniels

Looks like the entire weekend was s big success Cindy. Your bits and pieces pendant turned out really well. Awesome group shot of all the rings! I accomplished my goal. I am no longer afraid of the “Big Bad Saw” – but I do need to find some “Zen” moments so I can get more practice!

Everyone’s pieces are so amazing! I would have been such a dolt if I’d been there — I just don’t have this kind of talent. But I love to buy from those who do!!!!
Cindy, that pendant is beautiful! The textures are fabulous and I like the way it all comes together. I especially like the material that was added. That bit of detail works nice with the whole piece. It caught my eye right away and your pictures are great. You did such a remarkable job! ???
What a fabo weekend! Love all the jewelry goodness that was being cooked up by the Blissers…
Love your object so much– a lively bit of assymmetry there and all of it so tasty! Can’t wait to see what you do with it ultimately. Wow, this post really has my excitement up for ArtBliss! Hanging out with so many creative and interesting people, all of us focussed on creativity– pure bliss! Thanks for the great post, it’s the next best thing to being there with all your teriffic shots.
I am totally and COMPLETELY jealous of everything you ladies got to do this year! I’m just DROOLING over those pendants you made. Don’t EVEN get me started on those stunning rings! O.O
This is what my goal in jewelry making looks like-Hopefully I’ll be able to attain that goal soon enough!
What a fabulous post for those of us who have to live vicariously ^.^
I like the pendants!! They have a very natural and “contemporary Art” feel that I would like my work to have. Looks like a very useful class to attend. Nice post!
I would love to do this!!!!!! It seems a lot of fun!
